Sometimes I read something that gets me really mad. The kind of mad that might make me say things I would regret later. But I've always managed to hold back, to not post/comment on anything. Because worse than causing a flame war or being accused of as a troll, it's going to stay on the internet forever even if it's deleted later. And someone important in my personal or professional life is going to see it if they're feeling particularly nosy and have access to a search engine (with caching abilities).
Me too. Sometimes when I read soemthing like that (usually on a blog or in a comments section or message board) the bad feeling lingers afterwards and upsets me for quite a while, but I always refrain from commenting when this happens. (Unfortunately, I find most people do not share this perspective - and so it spirals out of control into flame wars). But I try to tell myself, forget about it. In the scheme of things, it's not important. However, it is one of the bad things about the Internet. Kind of reminds me of road rage, people never behave that way on the sidewalk - and do not usually in face-to-face conversation.
