Pertaining to this list? Maybe "surprised" isn't quite the best adjective. I was a bit impressed that Ender's Game actually lived up to the hype that I've heard about it--and especially since I've felt pretty mediocre about Card's other work.
I fared much better on this list than on the other one you linked to recently (when I believe the number I had read was in the low single digits and I had heard of not many more than that). 32, and I recently bought one on the list and will read it in the near future. Several on the list are favorite books of mine, in fact. But still, it is kind of an odd compilation of titles.
It only seems odd because it's more of like an average of all the popular and classic books that a reader would have come across. This is totally no me because I choose books in a far more haphazard manner.
