The End. (via Dustbury) The blogosphere's original carnival is closing down? Yikes. Does this mean that carnivals are now just another blog fad? Most likely. But I don't want others to take this as a cue to pull up the stakes and leave. Because then where would I find the good stuff to read?
I think it's just the rise of specialization: the special-interest Carnivals are doing well, generally, while the original Carnival, which sought to be all things to everyone, was shunted to the background.
I think you've just hit the nail on the head of why carnivals aren't a fad: they are useful. I think it's more likely that we're going to see further fragmentation. I may not want to see any post deemed as "good" by its author, but I do want to see posts about [insert subject here that interests me] that the author deems good.
