[posted by S. Y. Affolee on 9:16 AM : Saturday, July 30, 2005 New Architecture Driving around, I saw all these new mega churches, even one in the midst of a busy shopping center. These large, featureless buildings--it doesn't even seem like they're about faith at all but mass anonymity. There's the oft used metaphor of comparing followers to sheep. Are so many people content to do what everyone else is doing and to squeeze themselves into something that is pretty much one-size-fits-all? [posted by S. Y. This morning, the news remarked upon a strange website called beautifulpeople.net where people get to join a club for beautiful people if they get voted in by the members. The founder claims that the whole process is democratic. Yeah right. Only a select group of people get to vote. The cynic in me thinks that there are probably tons of fake and/or doctored profiles on that site. I suppose people can do whatever they want. If they want to create a clique for "beautiful" people, there's no one to stop them.
