There's something to be said for touring a museum alone, not just going by yourself, but actually having most of the building to yourself. Art appreciation can't be pigeon-holed into one thing, but I find the quality better if I weren't distracted by chattering tourists and know-it-all connoisseurs. Last afternoon I took a look at the Hood Museum of Art--small yet with an extensive collection. Many of the pieces, not surprisingly, were donated by alumni. On a completely different note, I discovered a cemetary behind the dining hall. It's not marked on the campus map.
