EXCERPT

INT. OFFICE BUILDING

The elevator stops and the doors open revealing a hallway that looks like any other in some anonymous business building--beige carpet, white walls, faux wood doors with plaques beside each. Sefarine and Dante get out of the elevator and it closes as they proceed to their left, Dante in the slight lead. They stop at a door with a plaque that simply says, "D., consultant." Dante takes out a key from a pocket in his jeans.

SEFARINE
You have an office? I don't peg you as the type.

DANTE
Let's just say it's hard to refuse when the Council gives you something like this.

Dante jams the key into the lock and unlocks the door. He pushes the door open and they both walk into a bare impersonal office that has nothing other than a desk, a chair, a bookcase with a couple of phone books, a coat rack with an identical black duster and a small black duffel bag on the desk.

SEFARINE
Nice digs. Now wonder you don't put any safeguards on your door.

Dante walks over to the window and peeks out of the blinds.

DANTE
Take that bag. There are some toiletries in there for you if you want. The bathroom's in there.

He jerks his head toward a small door located at the opposite end of the office which is a small washroom. Sefarine saunters over to the desk and tosses the bag over her shoulder and enters the washroom. The door slams. The sound of running water can be heard.

Dante runs a hand over his hair and then heads over to the desk. He sits down. He opens a drawer and pulls out a bottle and a glass. He pours himself a drink but doesn't drink. Instead, he stares at the glass.

DANTE
What have I gotten myself into?
